Chair Massage
During Times of Crisis, Recovery, & Healing
Massage therapists have a history of supporting first responders, disaster relief workers, and community members during times of crisis and in the long recovery period afterward. Sanctuary Within Bodywork has received specific training in psychological first aid and crisis response and functions professionally and cooperatively in busy high-stress zones. I am passionate about donating on-site chair massages for first responders, crisis counselors, community disaster response hubs, mutual aid organizations, nonprofits, at benefits, and in neighborhoods. If you know a group in need, please reach out.
What is Chair Massage?
Chair massage uses a special chair, instead of a massage table, to support the body. Chair massage takes place fully clothed, which makes the massage session convenient and comfortable for a diverse range of environments - including community centers, workplaces, and indoor and outdoor events.
Chair massage sessions are typically 10-30 minutes long and are focused on decreasing muscular tension and increasing relaxation. The massage focus is tailored to the client's needs but is typically focused on the neck, shoulders, back, arms, hands, and scalp.
What are the Benefits of Chair Massage?
Practical Benefits:
Promote Mental and Emotional Health: Therapeutic touch, when administered in a safe and supportive environment, can help alleviate trauma symptoms by promoting feelings of safety, security, and emotional regulation.
Immediate Stress Relief: In high-pressure environments, chair massage offers supportive relaxation, helping to alleviate tension and anxiety. A brief session can refresh workers, allowing them to return to their vital work with renewed focus.
Sustaining Work Needs: Reducing muscle tension and improving circulation supports a sustainable work environment. Plus, sessions are time efficient, generally lasting 10-30 minutes, allowing individuals to receive massage even when working on a tight schedule. Since chair massages are done fully clothed, there’s no need for individuals to change, making chair massages comfortable and time-efficient for more people within work environments.
Community Morale: Prioritizing the health and well-being of yourself and your team cultivates a supportive and uplifted atmosphere and fosters community. Since chair massage can be performed in various settings, such as community spaces, outdoor tents, offices, and homes, it is easy to incorporate in community settings.
Customizable: Services are customized to meet the unique needs of your organization, team, and community. From adaptable locations to flexible timing to the variety of massage techniques utilized, chair massage can be modified to meet the needs of your team.
